A first for ELAM fans: A new bread for 2022 featuring Spelt flour. Spelt is an ancient grain and a member of the same family as wheat, barley, and rye that has been cultivated by farmers since the Bronze Age.
The gluten in spelt flour is a little more delicate than wheat gluten, but spelt is a good option for those looking to enjoy bread while cutting down on gluten a bit. It's also high in protein and zinc and has a lovely nutty taste.
Our Spelt Sourdough loaf has a touch of honey to play off this grain's natural sweetness, and as always, no added preservatives. We've been enjoying this delicate bread with our morning eggs, topped with avocado at lunch, and toasted and dipped into soup for dinner. I know you'll love it any time of day!
Ingredients: Meadowlark Mills Flours: Whole-meal spelt flour, bolted bread flour, and whole-meal rye; all-purpose white flour, honey, kosher salt, water.
